Shanahan: Washington Redskins Revamp Taking Longer Than Expected

? December 26, 2011 - 3:36 pm

Mike Shanahan said building the Redskins to his liking has taken a lot longer than he anticipated.

The admission, one of his more telling of the season, came during Monday?s press conference ? less than 48 hours removed from the loss to the Minnesota Vikings.

Shanahan said the Redskins had less depth than he thought when he took over as head coach in 2010.

The coach also said he could see a big difference between the Redskins now and when he took over.

Also of note from the presser, there is a chance Jarvis Jenkins will be able to participate in OTAs in March.

The defensive lineman suffered a season-ending knee injury in a preseason contest against the Baltimore Ravens in August.
